My Therapeutic Values
Autonomy
I believe in we all deserve autonomy in decision making. I will invite and encourage you to answer questions and practice skills within session, but you will never be forced or pressured.
Transparency
I believe in transparent communication. I will disclose relevant information to help you make informed decisions about treatment options. I also welcome your transparent reactions and feedback.
Emotional Safety
I believe in prioritizing a sense of safety within therapy. I will help you learn nervous system regulation skills and regularly assess for safety - especially when discussing heavy topics.
Balance
I believe too much or too little of almost anything can become a problem. I will help you challenge black & white thinking and empower you to navigate the gray, uncertain areas of life.
Interdependence
I believe hyper-independence is as detrimental to relationships as codependency. I will encourage interdependence, helping you to feel safe enough to risk and rely on people who are able to do the same in healthy, non-coercive way.
Systemic-perspective
I believe that many factors influence and contribute to your concerns. I will help you explore your experiences from several angles, inspiring change in the areas within your control and helping you find acceptance in what is outside of your control.
Therapy with me is:
-
The trust and safety that was broken in relationships can only be healed in relationship with others. Therefore, I aim to show up with authenticity and transparency our therapeutic relationship. My hope is that by doing so, you will be at ease to do the same.
-
Clients I work with are often highly self-aware and describe themselves as “over-thinkers.” Instead of talking about change, clients are encouraged to experience change through observation and action during sessions. Together, we will sit with uncomfortable emotions and cultivate the self-compassion necessary to take risks in and in-between sessions.
-
As we get to know each other, fully understanding your lived experiences, values, and perspectives will be prioritized. Any questions, exercises, and feedback in session will be tailored specifically for you according to your needs and learning style.
-
Using insurance benefits requires clinicians to provide insurance companies with documentation including diagnosis, progress towards goals, and attendance compliance. As a largely self-pay clinician, I have the privilege of safeguarding the sensitive information client’s share with me. For insurance companies I am in-network with (MDWise HIP), I share the minimum required information only when requested by the insurance carrier.
….know you want change, but you’re not sure where to start.
…feel stuck in the past after trying to heal on your own .
…are open to being curious about your own emotions and what they may be trying to tell you.
….need honest and compassionate support, while remaining focused on your identified goals.
If you…
I might be the therapist for you!
If you…
…are attending sessions to satisfy someone else in your life.
…are looking for comfortable, overnight change.
….believe a therapist has the power to “fix” you or a loved one.
….need someone to “kick you into shape” with high pressure and guilt.
We may not be the best fit.
Life can be heavy, especially if you try to carry it all at once.
